Overview of Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV is Tata’s high-volume electric micro-SUV that is built on the brand's dedicated acti.ev architecture. Available in 2 battery capacities and 5 main trim classes, this model is available in a total of 6 variants. The entry-level 30 kWh battery version produces 88 PS of power and 153.8Nm of torque. The larger 40 kWh Long Range variants are superior in performance as they step up the output to a healthier 87bhp while maintaining the identical 153.8Nm torque floor.

Punch EV price lies between ₹ 9.69 Lakh* and ₹ 12.79 Lakh* (ex-showroom) which is highly justifiable as it gathers appreciation for its 335 to 355 km real-world C75 driving range. It is made tech-rich by installing a dual-screen setup comprising a 10.25-inch infotainment screen alongside a matching 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Comfort peaks where it gets ventilated front seats and a voice-assisted single-pane sunroof. While urban commuting convenience is sorted, overall vehicle safety is held non-negotiable with a flawless 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, 6 standard airbags, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Tata Punch EV Variants: Which One to Buy?

The Tata Punch EV comes in a total of 6 variants where they are offered under Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ S personas. Based on the use cases, here are the top variants:

  • Best value-for-money variant: Most buyers will find the Smart+ 40 to be a good choice. For just a small premium over the base model, it adds the more powerful 129 PS motor, an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, all-four power windows, and a reverse parking camera, making it highly budget-friendly without skipping core EV tech.
  • Best variant for long-distance touring: The Adventure 40 is ideal for buyers who are used to the highways. Long journeys are easier with the larger battery pack, cruise control, push-button start, and hill descent control ensuring great comfort and stamina on open stretches.
  • Best variant for tech enthusiasts: For those looking for a luxury micro-SUV experience, the Empowered+ S 40 is the perfect choice. It gives a premium cabin vibe with its twin 10.25-inch displays, front ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
  • Best budget-friendly variant: The Smart 30 is the entry-level to the Punch EV range. It still has an automated climate control system, a digital instrument cluster, 6 standard airbags, and multiple regenerative braking modes at a relatively lower cost.

Tata Punch EV Range

The Tata Punch EV offers a claimed range between 375 km and 468 km, depending on the selected battery pack. Its estimated real-world C75 range figures are as follows:

Battery Type

Claimed Range

Real-World C75 Range

30 kWh (Standard Range)

365 - 375 km

260 - 275 km

40 kWh (Long Range)

468 km

335 - 355 km

Who Should Buy the Tata Punch EV in 2026?

The Tata Punch EV is meant to be attractive to those desiring an electric SUV that is practical for city driving, high-riding, safe, technologically advanced, and affordable. With its compact footprint, tall seating stance, and effortless automatic drivability, it is ideal for daily city commuters, nuclear families, and first-time EV car buyers.

The model can even draw in customers who crave high-tech premiums, such as twin high-definition screens, seat ventilation, and smart connected car capabilities, in a compact size. The 195mm high ground clearance and multi-mode regen layout ensures that it is an excellent option for handling skid-scarred tarmac and crazy city streets. But if they are buying a heavy highway cross country touring vehicle with a full load of five adults, they may wish to consider an electric SUV that is larger.

Top 5 Things to Consider Before Buying the Tata Punch EV

  • Battery Pack Selection: The SUV comes in 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery sizes. Make a decision based on the distance you travel in the city on a daily basis versus on the highway occasionally.
  • BaaS vs. Outright Purchase: See if BaaS is a match for your usage. The car shell can be purchased at a reduced initial cost and the battery pack rented by the km.
  • AC Charging Option: All variants get DC fast charging infrastructure for public charging, but if the charging infrastructure is available, the speed difference between the standard 3.3 kW home wall box and the 7.2 kW AC charger option needs to be taken into consideration depending on your overnight charging schedule.
  • Feature Requirements: The top-tier Empowered series will be distinguished by premium features like the 360-degree surround camera, blind-spot monitor, ventilated seats and the bigger 10.25-inch infotainment display.
  • Long-Term Ownership Peace of Mind: Majorly minimizing battery degradation concerns, the larger 40 kWh battery pack configuration comes from a lifetime warranty for the first registered owner.
