Tata Sierra Secures Five-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) has released the crash-test results for the Tata Sierra, achieving the highest possible safety honors. According to the official report, the Sierra has secured a five-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection. This certification applies to all units manufactured from March 2026 onwards and covers the entire variant lineup of the SUV.

Detailed Score Breakdown and Protection Levels

The Tata Sierra demonstrated strong structural integrity during the assessment, scoring high marks across all primary safety categories. The rating is inclusive of all eight trims, from the base Smart+ to the top-tier Accomplished+.

The scoring highlights include:

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 31.14 out of a maximum 32 points.
  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 44.73 out of a maximum 49 points.
  • Variant Coverage: Applicable to petrol, diesel, manual, and automatic versions.
  • Effective Date: The rating is valid for all models produced starting this month.

Standard and Advanced Safety Equipment

A key driver behind the Sierra’s performance is the comprehensive list of safety features offered as standard. Tata Motors has equipped the SUV with a suite of electronic aids designed to prevent accidents and minimize impact severity.

Standard safety features include:

  • Six Airbags: Comprehensive cabin coverage for all occupants.
  • Electronic Stability: ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Traction Control System (TCS).
  • Braking & Control: Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Brake Disc Wiping (BDW), and Hill Assist Control (HAC).
  • Advanced Tech (Higher Variants): Level 2 ADAS, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and rear occupant sensors.

With this five-star result, the Tata Sierra joins the Safari and Harrier in maintaining the brand's reputation for high safety standards. This achievement provides a competitive advantage as the Sierra continues to challenge rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. This rating may play a helping role as Tata targets 10,000+ monthly delivery milestones.
