Maruti Baleno Facelift Set to Launch Tomorrow With New Engine

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Baleno facelift in India tomorrow, September 5, 2026. The updated premium hatchback will receive changes to its design, features and powertrain while continuing to compete with models such as the Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz.

The facelift is expected to bring a new engine along with additional equipment, including some features that were not available on the current model. Maruti is also likely to introduce a new top-end variant above the existing Alpha trim.

Updated Exterior Design

The 2026 Baleno will receive several styling changes to give the hatchback a refreshed appearance. The front and rear sections are expected to get redesigned elements, while the lighting setup could also receive updates.

Key exterior changes are expected to include:

• New front grille
• Redesigned front and rear bumpers
• New alloy wheel design
• Updated lighting elements
• Revised colour options

The overall silhouette is expected to remain similar to the current Baleno, with the updates focused mainly on its front and rear styling.

New Features Added to the Cabin

The facelift is also expected to bring several feature upgrades inside the cabin. Maruti could introduce ventilated front seats and an ADAS suite, along with revised upholstery and other changes to the interior.

The existing equipment list is also expected to continue, while the new top-end variant could receive additional premium features.

New 1.2-Litre Petrol Engine

The biggest change is expected in the engine, with the Baleno facelift set to use Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. The same engine currently powers the Swift and Dzire.

The engine produces 80bhp and 117Nm and sends power to the front wheels through either a five-speed manual or AMT gearbox.

CNG Automatic Version to Debut

Maruti is also expected to introduce a CNG automatic variant, marking a first for the brand. This version could offer greater convenience for buyers who prefer CNG but do not want a manual gearbox.

The company is also likely to expand the range with a new variant positioned above the Alpha trim. More details about the variant lineup and equipment are expected to be announced at the launch.
