Mahindra Q1 FY2027 Sales Report (April to June 2026): SUVs Drive Strong Quarterly Growth

Mahindra started FY2027 on a strong note with consistent month-on-month growth in its passenger vehicle business. The company sold 1,74,745 utility vehicles (UVs) in the domestic market during the April to June 2026 quarter, compared to 1,52,067 units in the same period last year. This resulted in an overall 14.9% year-on-year (YoY) growth, supported by sustained demand for its SUV portfolio.

The company reported growth in every month of the quarter. Sales increased from 56,331 units in April to 58,021 units in May, before reaching 60,393 units in June. June also emerged as the best-performing month with 28% YoY growth, indicating stronger customer demand and better supply compared to earlier months.

Month-on-Month Growth Shows Improving Momentum

Mahindra not only delivered healthy annual growth but also improved its monthly volumes throughout the quarter. Passenger vehicle sales increased by 3.01% in May over April. This was followed by another 4.09% rise in June over May.

This steady improvement suggests that Mahindra maintained strong booking momentum across its SUV range. Popular models like the Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, Thar, XUV700, XUV 3XO and Bolero family continued to attract buyers across urban and rural markets. The gradual monthly increase also reflects better production and dispatches during the quarter.

Another highlight was June's performance. The company crossed the 60,000-unit monthly passenger vehicle mark for the first time in FY2027. This made June the strongest month of the quarter in terms of both sales volume and annual growth.

Key Highlights from the Quarter

Mahindra's passenger vehicle business remained entirely SUV driven during the quarter, as the company currently does not sell conventional passenger cars or vans. This focused strategy continued to work well, helping the brand record healthy growth despite market challenges.

April gave Mahindra a positive start to the financial year with 56,331 SUVs sold, reflecting an 8% YoY increase. The company described this as a strong beginning for FY2027, supported by continued customer demand.

May strengthened that momentum further. Domestic SUV sales climbed to 58,021 units, marking 11% YoY growth. During the month, CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta also acknowledged that demand remained strong, although manpower shortages at select suppliers affected the supply chain. Even with these challenges, Mahindra maintained double digit growth and reported total vehicle sales of 99,636 units, up 20% YoY.

June proved to be the standout month. Passenger vehicle sales jumped to 60,393 units, registering 28% YoY growth. The company also reported 1,06,207 total vehicle sales, representing a 37% increase over June last year. Along with SUVs, Mahindra's light commercial vehicle business also posted strong gains, showing broad based demand across its automotive portfolio.

Quarterly Outlook

Mahindra closed the first quarter of FY2027 with steady momentum and improving monthly sales. Domestic passenger vehicle volumes grew nearly 15% over the same period last year, while month-on-month sales increased consistently throughout the quarter. Even with temporary supply chain constraints in May, the company continued to deliver strong growth, highlighting the popularity of its SUV lineup. If demand remains stable and production improves further, Mahindra appears well placed to maintain this momentum in the coming quarters.
