Kia Sorento Set for India Launch Tomorrow

Kia India is set to launch the new Sorento SUV in the country tomorrow, with the company expected to announce its prices during the launch. The company has already commenced production of the SUV and opened official bookings for a token amount of Rs. 25,000.

The Sorento will mark Kia India's first hybrid model, expanding the brand's powertrain portfolio in the Indian market. It will compete with established SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Tomahawk and Volkswagen Tayron. 

Kia Sorento to Get Hybrid and Diesel Powertrains

Kia has confirmed that the new Sorento will be offered with two powertrain options in India. Buyers will get a petrol-hybrid powertrain and a diesel engine, with the SUV also available with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration.

The hybrid and diesel options give the Sorento a multiple powertrain lineup. The AWD setup also provides an option for buyers seeking better traction. 

New Sorento Gets Updated Exterior Design

The 2026 Kia Sorento features several styling changes, including L-shaped LED DRLs and vertically stacked projector headlamps at the front. The SUV also gets a new gloss-black grille with an ADAS sensor positioned on the air dam.

Other exterior elements include roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, large alloy wheels and contrast-coloured skid plates. At the rear, the Sorento features wraparound LED taillights and an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp.

Advanced Driver Assistance Features

Inside, the Sorento will feature a Level 2 ADAS suite along with a panoramic sunroof and a new four-spoke steering wheel. The SUV also gets an auto-dimming IRVM and a powered tailgate.

The front seats come with electric adjustment and ventilation functions, while second-row occupants get sunshades and comfort headrests. These features add to the SUV's focus on passenger comfort and convenience.

Launch Plans And Expected Price

The Kia Sorento is expected to start at around Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Local assembly of the three-row SUV is already underway at Kia’s Anantapur manufacturing facility. This pricing is expected to place the Sorento in the premium SUV segment.

Kia’s strong August 2026 sales performance is another sign of the brand’s growing momentum ahead of the Sorento launch.
