Mercedes-AMG E 53 Launches in India Today: 5 Key Things to Expect
Google News

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the all-new Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ in India today. Positioned as a performance-oriented sibling to the standard E-Class, this new iteration introduces plug-in hybrid tech, bold AMG styling and sharp handling dynamics to the Indian luxury sports sedan cars segment.
1. Powerful Plug-In Hybrid Setup
The new Mercedes-AMG E 53 makes a massive shift from a mild-hybrid to a full Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system. For power, it gets a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor built into the 9-speed automatic transmission.
Combined, the setup produces 585hp and 750Nm of torque sent to all four wheels via 4Matic+ AWD. With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, output bumps to 612hp during launch control, hitting 0–100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
2. 100+ km All-Electric Range
A standout feature of this hybrid setup is its EV-only capability. Equipped with a 21.2kWh lithium-ion battery, the sedan offers a claimed electric-only range of over 100km, allowing zero-emission daily commutes at speeds up to 140km/h.
The high-voltage battery supports 11kW AC charging standardly, along with optional 60kW DC fast charging capable of topping up 10 to 80 percent in roughly 20 minutes. Regenerative braking also recharges the battery during driving.
3. AMG-Specific Exterior Styling
The model boasts a much more aggressive stance than the regular E-Class. Up front, it features an AMG-spec illuminated grille, larger air intakes and front fenders widened by 11mm on each side.
At the rear, the performance car incorporates a boot-lid spoiler, a black diffuser and quad circular exhaust tips. Distinctive AMG alloy wheels complete the exterior's athletic proportions.
4. Track-Tuned Chassis and Braking
Underneath the body, Mercedes-AMG has applied chassis reinforcements at both the front and rear axles. A wider front track improves stability, while adaptive suspension with Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes comes standard.
The braking package is also enlarged and specifically recalibrated to work smoothly alongside the PHEV system's energy recuperation setup.
