2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 Facelift Revealed with Upgraded V8

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2026 Maybach GLS 680 facelift. The updated ultra-luxury SUV brings subtle exterior styling updates, a tech-heavy cabin overhaul and a more powerful twin-turbo V8 powertrain. It introduces advanced chassis tech aimed at setting new standards in high-end passenger comfort.

Revised Styling and Upgraded V8 Engine

The updated Maybach GLS receives a restyled front fascia with an illuminated chrome grille surround and wordmark. Redesigned LED headlights feature brand-new star-shaped daytime running light signatures, complemented by an optional illuminated hood emblem.

In its very core is an upgraded 4.0-litre M177 Evo twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid setup. Total output now reaches 603 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, marking a notable performance bump over the outgoing model.

Key mechanical and exterior updates include:

  • Enhanced Power: Upgraded V8 engine delivers 603 hp, plus a temporary 23 hp boost from the mild-hybrid system.
  • Predictive Damping: Standard air suspension uses cloud-based road data shared across Mercedes vehicles to adjust ride settings proactively.
  • Refined Exterior: Features standard 22-inch alloy wheels, optional 23-inch monoblock rims, powered illuminated side steps and new tail-lamp graphics.

Tech-Laden Cabin and Comfort Upgrades

Inside, the luxury SUV gets a visual transformation led by Mercedes’s signature Hyperscreen setup housing three 12.3-inch displays. The system runs the latest MB.OS software, featuring over-the-air update capability and an AI assistant integrating ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

The layout adds wider central AC vents and revised trim options. The rear seats offer enhanced massage features that now extend down to the power-adjustable footrests.

Acoustic insulation is increased throughout the chassis to minimize road noise. Furthermore, retuned steering delivers sharper handling feedback without compromising luxury cruiser stability.

The 2026 Maybach GLS 680 facelift reinforces Mercedes-Maybach's position against rival ultra-luxury SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga. The blend of significant V8 power gains with predictive suspension technology and next-gen software offers powerful output. This is by offering a comprehensive balance of performance, digital integration, and rear-seat chauffeur comfort.
