5th September, Bengaluru: Maruti Suzuki has launched the Baleno facelift at an introductory price of Rs. 6.09 lakh (ex-showroom). Developed around its ‘Dare to go Glam’ philosophy, the updated premium hatchback gets a new design, Z12E powertrain, Level 2 ADAS and several new comfort and technology features.
The new Baleno gets a distinctive NEXWave grille as part of its redesigned front fascia, along with Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and the new Z12E powertrain. Bookings for the facelift are now open at Rs. 11,000, with deliveries and variant-wise details expected to follow.
New Exterior Design and Styling
The 2026 Baleno gets a redesigned front profile aimed at giving the premium hatchback a more distinctive and sophisticated road presence. Key exterior changes include:
- All-new NEXWave grille: The wider grille gets prominent 3D patterns and horizontal chrome slats.
- New front bumper: A sculpted bumper with a redesigned lower grille adds to the updated appearance.
- New chrome fender garnish: Adds a premium touch to the side profile.
- NEXTre’ LED DRLs: The distinctive LED daytime running lights continue to enhance the front-end styling.
- Shark-fin antenna: Further contributes to the premium look.
- New colour option: The Baleno is available in seven colours, including the new Enigmatic Teal shade.
Together, these changes give this new Maruti Suzuki car a more pronounced visual identity while retaining its familiar premium-hatchback proportions.
Updated Tech and Safety with Level 2 ADAS
The biggest technological addition to the new Baleno is Level 2 ADAS, introduced under Maruti Suzuki's NEXA Safety Shield. The system uses a combination of radar and camera technology to provide eight driver-assistance functions:
- Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Lane Keep Assist
- Lane Departure Prevention
- Lane Departure Warning
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- High Beam Assist
- Vehicle Sway Warning
- Forward Collision Warning
The safety package also includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, Emergency Stop Signal, Hill Hold Control, reverse parking sensors, 3-point seat belts and seat-belt reminders. A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has also been introduced.
Premium Interior With Ventilated Seats
Inside, the new Baleno gets a dual-tone interior with piano-black inserts. The most notable addition is the segment-first ventilated front seats with plush leatherette upholstery.
Other major cabin upgrades include:
- Premium Sound System by Clarion
- Qi-certified wireless smartphone charger with active cooling
- 360 View Camera
- Head-Up Display (HUD)
- 22.86-cm (9-inch) SmartPlay Pro+ HD infotainment system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Suzuki Connect with 40+ connected-car features
The Suzuki Connect system provides features covering vehicle safety and security, trips and driving behaviour, status alerts and remote operations through the connected-car app.
New Z12E Engine and Improved Efficiency
The new Baleno is powered by Maruti Suzuki’s Advanced Z12E 1.2-litre petrol engine with Idle Start-Stop technology and Dual VVT. As the previous Maruti Baleno was powered by a K12N engine, the newer one gives superior mileage and lower CO₂ emissions although with slightly less power.

Official Statement
Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. said:
“The Baleno has been a definitive pillar for NEXA and the premium hatchback segment over the course of a decade. The Stunning New Baleno is now here to redefine customer expectations with the introduction of segment-first features including Level 2 ADAS, and an unmistakable new identity established with a modern rendition of the signature NEXWave grille. The Stunning New Baleno’s ‘Dare to go Glam’ philosophy is formed around the ambitious, young customers of today who dare to challenge the norm and express their individuality in an unapologetically original manner.”
The 2026 Baleno facelift is more than a cosmetic update, bringing substantial changes to safety, technology, comfort and powertrain efficiency. Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and the new Z12E engine significantly strengthen its feature list, while the revised styling gives Maruti’s premium hatchback a more distinctive identity.
Interestingly, it's expected to intensify competition against the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza in India’s premium hatchback segment.
