2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift Teaser is Out: New Look, Features and Expected Price

Mahindra has teased the 2026 Thar facelift ahead of its September 22 launch in India. The teaser previews the updated 3 door SUV before it reaches dealerships. Mahindra introduced a minor update last year, but the upcoming version is expected to bring more visible changes.

The teaser offers a limited look at the SUV, revealing its muddy grille with vertical slots and mesh detailing. Mahindra branding sits prominently above the grille. The teaser also hints at its off road focus with the line, “Off Road Adventure now gets muddier.”

The company has kept the rest of the SUV under wraps, with no clear view of the headlights, bumper or interior yet.

2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift: Expected Design Changes

Earlier test vehicles point to a revised front end design for the facelift. Expected changes include circular projector LED headlights with C shaped LED DRLs, similar to the Thar Roxx. A reprofiled front bumper and updated fog lamps could also be part of the package. Test vehicles have also been spotted with a different dual tone alloy wheel design.

The core 3 door layout is expected to remain familiar to existing buyers. The tailgate mounted spare wheel and split rear opening are likely to continue unchanged. At the rear, changes could include LED tail lamps and a tweaked bumper.

Mahindra Thar Facelift: Cabin And Features

The Mahindra car is expected to receive a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control. It could retain the existing 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system and wireless smartphone connectivity.

Other expected equipment includes cruise control, a six speaker sound system and power adjustable ORVMs. A soft top option could also return with this update.

Engines, Price And Rivals

The powertrain lineup is expected to remain unchanged, with petrol and diesel engine options. The range includes a 2 litre turbo petrol, 1.5 litre diesel and 2.2 litre diesel engine.

The 2 litre petrol makes 152 PS, while the diesel engines produce 118 PS and 132 PS. Transmission choices include six speed manual and automatic options, depending on the engine.

The Mahindra Thar Facelift price is expected to range between Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh (ex showroom). The price update will matter to buyers comparing the Thar with the Force Gurkha 3 Door.
