The model is also getting two powertrain choices (Hybrid and Diesel) and two seating configurations (6 and 7-seater).
Kia Sorento prices start from Rs. 27.99 Lakh for the base HTE 7-seater variant and goes up to Rs. 40.39 Lakh for top HTX (A) Black Line (AWD). From the basic to the exclusive Black Line versions and AWD on the higher end, gives buyers plenty of options depending on their budget and requirements.

Kia Sorento Variants and Price

Combine 9 trim levels with 2 seater configurations and 2 powertrain types, and this comes out to be 36 (9x2x2). Since HTE and HTE(O) trims aren’t getting 6 seater configs, pull out 4 and you get 32 variants of Kia Sorento. Base HTE variants hold lower prices while higher HTK and HTX which comes in AWD drivetrain command highest prices. Take a look at the exact Kia Sorento price for each variant point:

The variants of Kia Sorento can be understood through these trim levels:
- HTE: The entry level Sorento trim, available only as a 7-seater. It is offered with both the 2.2L diesel and 1.6L hybrid powertrains, making it the starting point for both versions.
- HTE(O): This sits one step above the HTE and is also limited to the 7-seater configuration. It adds an option pack over the standard HTE while retaining both engine choices.
- HTK: The HTK brings more flexibility to the lineup, as buyers can choose between 6 and 7-seater layouts. It is available with both diesel and hybrid powertrains.
- HTK(A): This is the next step up from HTK and continues with both seating options and powertrains. The "(A)" version adds more equipment over the standard HTK.
- HTK(A) Black Line: This combines the HTK(A) equipment with Kia's new Black Line treatment. It gets blacked-out exterior elements for a sportier and more distinctive appearance.
- HTX (AWD): This is where the Sorento's AWD variants start. It is available with both the diesel and hybrid powertrains, along with 6 and 7-seater configurations. Kia also provides dedicated Snow, Sand and Mud terrain modes with the AWD system.
- HTX Black Line (AWD): This adds the Black Line styling to the HTX AWD package. It gets blacked-out badges and exterior elements along with 19-inch Premium Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels.
- HTX (A) (AWD): Positioned above the standard HTX AWD, this variant adds the "(A)" equipment package while retaining AWD, both powertrains and both seating configurations.
- HTX (A) Black Line (AWD): The range-topping trim combines the additional equipment of HTX (A), AWD capability and Black Line styling. It is available in both 6 and 7-seater layouts, with the 6-seater hybrid version topping the range at Rs. 40.39 lakh.
A few things stand out in the Sorento lineup
The 6-seater option starts from the HTK trim, so buyers looking for second-row captain seats cannot get them with the HTE or HTE(O). The price difference between equivalent 6 and 7-seater variants is consistently Rs. 20,000, making the captain-seat layout a relatively small premium.
The other interesting bit is that AWD is not restricted to the diesel. Kia offers AWD with both the 2.2L diesel and 1.6L hybrid, making the Sorento the first model in its segment to offer a hybrid AWD setup.
Kia Sorento Engine and Seating Options

The Kia Sorento keeps things interesting with two very different powertrain choices. Buyers can choose between a diesel engine focused on strong torque and hybrid Sorento Variants that adds an electric motor to the mix. Both options are available with automatic transmissions, while AWD is offered on the higher trims.
Kia Sorento Engine Options

2.2L Smartstream D2.2 Diesel |

|
1.6L Smartstream Turbo GDI Hybrid |
180 PS + 65 PS electric motor |
265 Nm + 264 Nm electric |
6-speed AT |
FWD / AWD |
The 2.2L diesel gets paired with 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) for smooth performance. The output is 180 PS power and 442 Nm torque, best for long highway runs even on full cabin capacity.
On the other hand, the hybrid option combines a 1.6L Turbo GDi Petrol engine with 65 PS electric motor. Total output gets power from both the motor and 180 PS from petrol engine. Resultant torque is also in greater quantity (265 Nm + 264 Nm).
One of the biggest highlights is that both powertrains get AWD options. The hybrid AWD setup is particularly notable, as Kia says the Sorento is the first in its segment to offer a hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive. AWD variants also get Snow, Sand and Mud terrain modes.
Kia Sorento Seating Capacity
Apart from two powertrain types, the Kia Sorento Variants get two seating configurations: 6 and 7-seater, giving buyers a choice between a more premium second row and maximum seating capacity.
|

Best suited for |
|
6-Seater |
Captain seats |
Buyers prioritising second-row comfort |
|
7-Seater |
60:40 split seats |
Larger families needing an extra seat |
The 6-seater gets captain seats with slide, recline and walk-in functionality. The 7-seater, meanwhile, gets a 60:40 split second row with similar slide, recline and walk-in functions. Both versions get One-Touch Seat Adjust and 4-Way Power Boss Mode.
Kia has also paid attention to comfort beyond the first row. The Sorento gets ventilated seats with three-step cooling in the second row, which is a first in the segment according to Kia. The third row gets 50:50 split-folding seats, while rear AC vents and seat-integrated Type-C USB ports are also available.
For buyers choosing between the two, the decision is quite simple. Go for the 6-seater if rear-seat comfort is a priority, while the 7-seater makes more sense if carrying more passengers is a regular requirement.
Kia Sorento Colours

The Kia Sorento is offered in eight exterior colour options, giving buyers a mix of subtle, premium and more expressive shades. The lineup also includes a matte finish, which should appeal to buyers looking for something a little different.

Ivory Silver Gloss |
Gloss |
|
Aurora Black Pearl |
Pearl |
|
Dark Gun Metal |
Matte |
The Dark Gun Metal is the only matte shade in the lineup, while Glacier White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl add a more premium touch with their pearl finishes.
The exclusive Black Line gets a completely separate colour palette where Kia has focused on giving the SUV a darker exterior shade. For now, this trim gets Aurora Black Pearl with darkened exterior accents. Externally, you’ll get to see Sorento emblems, fender garnish and beltline with 19-inch premium Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels.
In short: If you prefer a safe choice, Glacier White Pearl or Ivory Silver Gloss should work well. For something more distinctive, Imperial Blue, Magma Red or Pewter Olive stand out, while Dark Gun Metal is the pick for a more understated matte look.
Which Kia Sorento Variant Should You Buy?
With 32 variants, choosing the right Sorento mostly comes down to how much equipment you want and whether you need AWD. Here is how I would narrow it down:
- Best value for money: HTK 7-Seater
The HTK offers a good middle ground without jumping too far up the price ladder. It also brings the option of choosing between diesel and hybrid. - Best for premium rear-seat comfort: HTK 6-Seater
If you usually travel with fewer passengers, the 6-seater makes more sense. Its second-row captain seats offer a more premium experience. - Best for a sportier look: HTK(A) Black Line
The Black Line treatment adds a darker look to the Sorento. It is worth considering if styling matters as much as equipment. - Best for AWD buyers: HTX (AWD)
This is where AWD enters the lineup. It is available with both powertrains and gets Snow, Sand and Mud terrain modes. - Best overall: HTX (A) (AWD)
For buyers with a higher budget, this trim offers a strong mix of equipment, AWD capability and both seating options without going all the way to the top Black Line variant.
Ultimately, the HTK and HTK(A) variants should make the most sense for most buyers, while the HTX range is better suited to those specifically looking for AWD and a more feature-rich package.
