BYD has teased its luxury brand, Denza, for India, signalling its entry through a social media post on October 2, 2026. The brand shared its logo with an “Arriving soon” message for the Indian market.
Denza is expected to bring premium electric cars positioned above BYD’s current lineup. The first models are likely to include the D9 luxury MPV and Z9 GT performance car. Both models are expected to target buyers seeking premium electric alternatives.
BYD Denza India Launch: What We Know
Denza was created in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes Benz. Mercedes Benz later exited, leaving BYD as the sole owner in 2024. In India, Denza is expected to sit above BYD’s existing products. Reports suggest its cars could start at around Rs 80 lakh (ex showroom).
The company has not announced exact launch dates or prices yet. The models are also expected to arrive as completely built units initially.
Denza D9: Luxury Electric MPV
The D9 is expected to become Denza’s first India bound model. It is a large electric MPV with a 2+2+3 seating layout.

The India spec model is expected to use a 103 kWh battery and a 313 hp front motor. Its global WLTP range is rated at 520 km. For family buyers, the second row captain seats and comfort focused cabin will be key talking points.
The D9 will face the MG M9, while the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM occupy higher luxury price brackets.
Denza Z9 GT Brings Performance
The Z9 GT will add a very different option to the lineup. It is a five seat electric shooting brake with three motors. The global spec version produces up to 1,156 hp and claims 0–100 km/h acceleration in 2.7 seconds. Its claimed WLTP range stands at 600 km.
It also gets rear wheel steering, advanced driver assistance features, and a premium multi screen cabin.
What Buyers Should Know
Denza will expand BYD’s presence in India’s high end electric car market. However, imported models could carry higher prices due to their CBU route.
The final launch date, variants, and India specific specifications remain unconfirmed. Buyers should therefore wait for official pricing before comparing ownership costs.
Car Junction Insights
I see Denza’s India entry as an interesting move for buyers seeking something beyond mainstream luxury EVs. The D9 could appeal to premium families, while the Z9 GT brings performance into the equation. For me, pricing, charging support, after sales reach, and long term ownership costs will determine how seriously Indian buyers consider Denza.
