Tata Sierra Bookings Cross 1,00,000 Mark Within Two Months
Google News

Tata Motors recorded a historic high record bookings for the Sierra model, crossing 1 Lakh bookings. Since its booking opened from 16th Dec, it crossed the 1 Lakh mark quickly showing the growing demand of the model among customers. This Tata SUV has successfully combined the modern and traditional nostalgic looks causing Tata to ramp-up the production aggressively.
Recently, Shailesh Chandran, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors PV, had an interaction with a media agency on Tata Motor’s Q3 FY2026 results. He said, "We announced 70,000 bookings on day one, and since then, orders have continued to come in. At this stage, the focus is not demand, its supply". He further added that the booking has now touched the figures into lakhs.
Focused Ramp-Up and Supply Chain Strategy
With over 70,000 orders received within the first 24 hours alone, Tata Motors is now under immense pressure to deliver. Managing Director Shailesh Chandra confirmed the focus has shifted entirely to supply execution.
- Manufacturing Target: Tata aims to scale up production to 15,000 units per month by March 2026.
- Annual Goal: The company is dedicated to covering 1.5 lakh units to clear the backlog.
The ongoing waiting period of 3-4 months for Sierra and supply chain bottleneck hurdles have been posing challenges for the company.
Performance, Variants and Tech Features
Apart from the gaps in demand and supply, the Sierra’s premium mid-SUV features and versatile performance attracted so many buyers. You’ll find:
Engine
- 1.5L TGDi Hyperion (Turbo-Petrol): The powerhouse of the range, delivering 158 bhp and 255 Nm of torque.
- 1.5L Kryojet Diesel: A reliable workhorse producing 116 bhp and up to 280 Nm (in AT).
- 1.5L Revotron (NA Petrol): The entry-level option producing 104 bhp.
Transmissions (Gear System)
Options include a 6-speed Manual, 7-speed DCA (Dual Clutch), and a 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic.
Key Premium Features
- Infotainment: A sophisticated triple-screen layout featuring dual 12.3-inch displays.
- Comfort: The segment's largest "PanoraMax" sunroof, ventilated seats, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat.
- Safety: 6 Airbags (standard), Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and a 360-degree camera.
- Pricing: Competitive positioning starting at ₹11.49 lakh and going up to ₹21.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
The fact that Tata Sierra was able to record 1 lakh bookings within a record time testifies the fact that traditional technology meets modern one. It has to be seen how Tata Motors will handle the challenge.
