The company has solidified its position as a major industry player, particularly excelling in the SUV and EV segments through its multi-powertrain strategy.

Tata Motors reported a strong performance for March 2026, with total passenger vehicle sales (including exports) reaching 66,971 units. Compared to the March 2025 sales data, where the automaker achieved 51,872 units, it gained 29% monthly YoY sales. This happens as the company capitalizes on strong consumer demand for its SUV portfolio, led by Nexon and Punch.

The final quarter of the fiscal year (January–March 2026) was the strongest in the company's history, due to achieving 2,01,368 unit sales. This represents a sharp 37% year-on-year growth for the quarter, compared to 1,46,999 units sold in the same quarter of FY25. Electric vehicle sales also peaked during this period, reaching 26,931 units.

For the full 2025-26 fiscal year, Tata Motors achieved its highest-ever annual sales volume of over 6.4 lakh units (641,587 units). This displays a 15% growth compared to 556,263 units sold in FY25. The company's EV division recorded a significant 43% growth, with annual volumes reaching 92,120 units.
Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., highlighted the multiple milestones achieved during the year:
"FY26 has been a landmark year marked by multiple milestones. We achieved our highest ever annual sales volumes of over 6.4 lakh units, delivering industry beating growth of 15% YoY... In Q4 FY26, we delivered our highest ever quarterly sales, crossing 200,000 units, and recorded a strong 37% YoY growth."
