Skoda Slavia Facelift Set for Official Launch on August 18

Czech automaker Skoda Auto has officially confirmed August 18 as the launch date for the updated Slavia midsize sedan in India. This mid-cycle refresh aims to strengthen the brand’s footprint in the competitive sedan segment. The model will bring subtle cosmetic tweaks, upgraded cabin features, and key mechanical updates while retaining its existing powertrain lineup.

Exterior and Interior Upgrades

The exterior design receives subtle enhancements aligned with Skoda’s modern global design language. The front fascia adopts a bolder radiator grille with integrated lighting elements alongside revised LED headlamp signatures and sculpted front and rear bumpers.

Inside, the cabin retains its familiar layout while introducing key convenience features:

  • Digital Cockpit: Upgraded to a larger 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster for enhanced driver information.
  • Cabin Comforts: Revised seat upholstery, front parking sensors, and a potential rear-seat massage function.
  • Retained Features: 10.25-inch central infotainment screen, single-pane sunroof, wireless charging pad, 8-speaker sound system, and six airbags standard.

Powertrain and Gearbox Enhancements

Considering the powertrain, the Slavia continues with two turbo-petrol engine choices: a 115hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI and a 150hp 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI. The major mechanical change focuses on the 1.0-litre variant, replacing the existing 6-speed torque converter with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre TSI engine continues to pair exclusively with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

A minor price bump is only expected over the current model's ex-showroom range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18.19 lakh. Through this, the facelifted Slavia aims to re-energize the midsize sedan category. The addition of an 8-speed automatic transmission and updated technology should improve daily drivability and efficiency. As a result, this refresh strengthens Skoda’s standing against primary rivals like the Volkswagen Virtus, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.
