Renault Duster Achieves Five-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

The all-new Renault Duster has secured a full five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. This result applies to both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). These results arrive as Renault prepares to re-establish the Duster brand in India with variants including the Evolution, Techno, and Iconic trims.

Safety Scores and Occupant Protection

The Renault Duster earned 30.49 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection. In the frontal offset test, it scored 14.49 out of 16 points and protection for the head and neck was rated as "good." However, chest and leg protection for the driver were marked as "adequate." The SUV achieved a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable barrier test.

For Child Occupant Protection, the Duster scored 45 out of 49 points. It received full marks for the dynamic performance of child restraint systems. Both 18-month-old and three-year-old dummies showed maximum protection in front and side impacts. The vehicle assessment score stood at 9 out of 13.

Key Safety Performance Details:

  • Full 5-star rating for both adults and children.
  • Six airbags and Electronic Stability Control as standard.
  • "Good" protection for all body regions in the side impact tests.
  • ISOFIX mounts provided for secure child seat installation.
  • Pedestrian protection system included across all variants.

Performance Comparison and Data

The Duster is now among the safest SUVs in its segment. While its child safety score is on par with the Kia Seltos, its adult score is slightly lower than some rivals. Renault has equipped the SUV with a Level-2 ADAS suite to further enhance road safety.
