Next-Gen Toyota Hilux Teased Ahead of July 28 Launch

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has released the first official teaser of the next-generation Hilux pickup truck for the Indian market. The vehicle is scheduled to make its official debut on July 28, 2026. The upcoming mini truck will be based on the same body-on-frame IMV platform as the previous version. While this teaser unveils several pieces of information, some interior and exterior facts are yet to come.

Platform Continuity and Visual Identity

The upcoming iteration retains the traditional body-on-frame IMV architecture. This platform supports the reliability metrics of the outgoing lifestyle pickup vehicle.

The teaser highlights a revised front fascia layout. It features a prominent honeycomb center grille mesh. This is accompanied by blocky 'TOYOTA' lettering placed directly on a black plastic trim piece. The vehicle also showcases revised sleek LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights.

The exterior showcases blacked-out alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches. Protective roll bars are mounted behind the main passenger cabin area. The India-spec version will launch exclusively in the Double Cab configuration.

Interior Architecture and Equipment Levels

The cabin receives major digital upgrades while maintaining rugged styling. The dashboard structure features dual 12.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment tasks.

  • The driver display includes four customizable graphic interface themes.
  • The central touchscreen deploys the proprietary Toyota Smart Connect technology suite.
  • Physical switchgear is retained for HVAC settings and four-wheel drive configuration selectors.
  • Expected features include a wireless phone charger and wireless smartphone connectivity tools.

Powertrain Options and Market Positioning

The lifestyle pickup truck is highly likely to carry forward the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The manual transmission option produces 204hp and 420Nm of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission increases the peak torque output to 500Nm.

Global iterations feature a new 48V mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency. It remains unconfirmed if this exact system will make its local debut. The pickup truck will command a price premium over the current model. It competes directly against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the domestic lifestyle pickup space.
