New Toyota Hilux India Launch on July 28 With More Tech and Safety

Toyota is set to launch the new ninth-generation Hilux in India on July 28. The updated pickup gets a refreshed design, a modern cabin, and several new features. Moreover, Toyota has improved the chassis for better ride comfort. However, the proven 2.8-litre diesel engine will continue without major changes.

Exterior Gets a Rugged New Look

The new Toyota Hilux receives several cosmetic updates while retaining its familiar pickup shape.

Key Exterior Highlights of New Toyota Hilux

  • New Front Grille: A body-coloured grille replaces the larger hexagonal unit on the current model.
  • TOYOTA Lettering: Gloss black trim with bold TOYOTA lettering connects the headlamps.
  • Updated Bumper: A redesigned front bumper gives the pickup a tougher appearance.
  • New Skid Plate: The updated skid plate enhances the SUV's rugged styling.
  • Fresh Alloy Wheels: Toyota is expected to introduce a new alloy wheel design.
  • Revised Rear Design: The pickup could receive updated LED tail lamps, bumper, and TOYOTA branding.

Toyota may also introduce new exterior colour options with the updated model.

Cabin Offers More Technology

The interior receives a cleaner dashboard with a more modern layout. Straight lines replace the curved design of the outgoing model.

New Toyota Hilux Key Interior Features

  • Dual 12.3-inch Displays: Separate screens handle infotainment and driver information.
  • Physical Controls: Frequently used functions still use dedicated buttons.
  • Premium Comfort: Powered and ventilated front seats improve everyday convenience.
  • Wireless Charging: Buyers also get a wireless charging pad.
  • Dual-Zone Climate Control: The cabin offers independent temperature settings.
  • Advanced Safety: A 360-degree camera and radar-based ADAS enhance driver confidence.

Engine Remains Unchanged

Toyota will continue offering the trusted 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine. It produces 204 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota has also improved the chassis to deliver better stability and ride comfort.

The company has not confirmed the 48V mild-hybrid system for India. Global markets also receive an electric Hilux, but its India launch remains uncertain.

New Toyota Hilux Expected Price and Rivals

The updated Hilux is likely to cost slightly more than the current model. The existing version is priced between Rs. 28.52 lakh and Rs. 36 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Toyota Hilux will continue to rival the Isuzu V-Cross. With improved technology, safety, and styling, the pickup aims to strengthen its position in India's lifestyle pickup segment.
