Mini India Opens Pre-Bookings for Countryman C

Mini India has officially commenced pre-launch bookings for the all-new Countryman C. This model represents the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the brand’s largest SUV. Unlike some previous models, the Countryman C will be locally assembled. Production takes place at the BMW Group plant located outside Chennai. This move suggests a more competitive pricing strategy for the Indian market.

Performance and Exterior Design

The new Countryman C features a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. It produces 170bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Power is delivered exclusively to the front wheels. This setup aims to balance urban efficiency with the brand's signature driving dynamics.

In terms of design, the SUV retains its iconic silhouette but grows in size. It now measures 4.4 metres in length. The exterior includes revised LED headlamps and an octagonal front grille. Buyers can choose from five distinct color schemes. The signature Union Jack tail lamps remain a standard feature at the rear.

Key Specifications and Features:

  • 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with 170bhp output.
  • Smooth-shifting seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
  • Larger dimensions with a 2.6-metre wheelbase.
  • Standard 9.0-inch circular central touchscreen.
  • Interior dashboard made from high-quality recycled materials.
  • Advanced features like HUD and two-zone climate control.

Interior Tech and Market Position

The cabin focuses on sustainability and modern technology. It features a new 9.0-inch circular OLED display. This screen handles navigation, media, and vehicle settings. The interior uses brown upholstery and recycled textiles for a premium feel. For added utility, the second row offers split-folding seats to increase cargo space.

Mini expects to launch the car officially in May 2026. The estimated price range is between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 45 lakh. At this price point, it will compete with the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The Countryman C marks a significant step for Mini's growth in India. Local assembly is a strategic move to lower costs and reach more buyers. By offering a petrol-powered alternative to its electric range, Mini ensures broader appeal. The SUV combines family-friendly space with the brand's premium identity. It is expected to be a high-volume seller for the company this year.
