2026 Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Spied with New Front Fascia

A newly spotted test mule of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift reveals a significantly updated front profile. This upcoming iteration points toward a more thorough design overhaul compared to the minor feature updates given to the off-roader in late 2025. Although the launch timeline is largely uncertain, the anticipated facelift may book a price higher than the current Thar price.

Revised Exterior Design

The most notable update on the new test prototype is a redesigned front end. We’ve seen the earlier test mules featured a double-stacked six-slat grille inspired by the larger Thar Roxx. But this latest mule sports a distinct five-slot grille with a subtle horizontal element on the right, likely dedicated to housing a badge. The discrepancy in spy shots suggests Mahindra might introduce different grille options across distinct editions or variants of the facelifted model.

Key design elements revealed by the latest test mule include:

• Distinctive Front Grille: Features a 5-slot design with a horizontal badge cutout, differing from previously spotted 6-slat units.
• Updated Side Profile: Fitted with newly designed 5-spoke alloy wheels while retaining the signature boxy three-door proportions.

Engine and Mechanical Expectations

The Thar 3-door facelift is expected to carry over its current, proven powertrain options. These include the 119 hp 1.5-litre diesel engine offered exclusively in RWD configuration. Also, the 132 hp 2.2-litre diesel and 152 hp 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engines available in 4x4 formats. Transmission options will remain a 6-speed manual as standard, with a 6-speed torque converter automatic available on the larger engines.

A major mechanical enhancement expected on the facelift is the switch from the existing hydraulic power steering setup to an electric power steering system. It is aimed at easing city driving and low-speed maneuvering.

Price and Launch Expectation

While Mahindra has not officially confirmed a launch schedule, the facelift is expected to command a modest price premium. The current outgoing range is priced between Rs 10.32 lakh and Rs 18.00 lakh (ex-showroom).
