Kia Syros EV Spied at Public Charging Station Before Debut

Kia India is preparing to introduce the all-electric version of the Syros in the Indian market. Ahead of its expected debut on July 23, the upcoming Kia Syros EV has been spotted testing once again. This time, the electric SUV was seen connected to a public DC fast charging station, revealing its charging port placement and confirming several design details.

The latest spy images suggest that the Syros EV will retain most of the styling of the standard Syros while receiving a few EV-specific updates. Once launched, it will become Kia's first sub-4-metre electric SUV in India.

Kia Syros EV Gets Minor Exterior Changes

The latest test mule was fully covered in camouflage, but several design elements were still visible. The electric SUV looks nearly identical to the standard Syros, with only minor updates expected for the front bumper. Its charging port is positioned on the front left fender, unlike the placement seen on the Kia Carens Clavis EV and Hyundai Creta Electric.

The tall-boy design, upright stance, and signature lighting elements appear to remain unchanged. The alloy wheels also look similar to those offered on the earlier Syros model.

Expected Cabin Features and Battery Options

The Kia Syros EV is expected to carry forward many of the features available on the standard Syros while offering two battery pack options.

  • Expected 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options
  • 30-inch Trinity display with dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate control display
  • Panoramic sunroof and front & rear ventilated seats
  • Level 2 ADAS and wireless phone charger
  • Expected driving range of up to 443 km and 520 km, respectively
  • DC fast charging support

Expected Launch and Rivals

Kia is expected to debut the Syros EV on July 23, with more details likely to be announced during the launch event. The company has not yet confirmed the battery specifications or variant lineup.

Once launched, the Kia Syros EV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. With its familiar design, feature-rich cabin, and expected dual battery options, the Syros EV is set to strengthen Kia India's growing electric vehicle portfolio.
