JSW MG Motor India Unveils ADAPT Multi-Powertrain Platform
Google News

JSW MG Motor India has officially unveiled MG ADAPT, marking the introduction of India's first Multi New Energy Vehicle platform. This intelligent, modular architecture smartly unifies EV, HEV, PHEV and REEV technologies within a common framework. This allows the automaker to rapidly develop distinct electrified powertrains on a single production line.
Technical Composition and Launch Timeline
The acronym stands for Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology. It integrates a dedicated hybrid engine with a dedicated battery system. The architecture features India’s first 10-in-1 intelligent electric drive unit.
It also utilizes the world's first electromagnetic dedicated hybrid transmission system. The automaker confirmed two initial vehicles will debut on this platform by FY 2026 - 27. This product rollout will consist of one EV and one PHEV model.
The platform architecture enables the brand to develop varied vehicle types rapidly. The company stated the configuration will enhance domestic localization efforts going forward.

Intelligent Energy Management Systems
An onboard energy management system automatically regulates vehicular operation. The system continuously shifts between four distinct drive modes based on real-time road conditions.
- Pure Electric Drive: Tailored for silent and highly responsive urban commutes.
- Series Hybrid Drive: The engine generates electricity while the motor drives wheels.
- Parallel Hybrid Drive: Engine and motor operate simultaneously for peak performance.
- Engine Direct Drive: Locks the petrol engine directly for highway cruising efficiency.
Strategic Market Objectives
The modular engineering focus targets better driving range and faster charging capabilities. Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra stated the platform serves as their future technological backbone.
The strategy allows the joint venture to offer multiple energy choices. It streamlines manufacturing complexities by combining multiple propulsion types into one production line. This architectural flexibility aims to lower overall development costs for future Indian market offerings.
