Hyundai Accelerates Delhi’s EV Infrastructure with 120 kW DC Fast Chargers

Gurugram | September 09, 2026: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) inaugurated 120 kW DC fast-charging stations across New Delhi on World EV Day. As a good news for Hyundai EV users, they can get the benefit of free public charging from 9th September to 11th September 2026. This can be done via booking through myHyundai app. The company also announced plans to launch a localized, mass-market electric SUV built on a dedicated EV platform. The initiative includes offering three days of free charging for Hyundai EV owners.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Workforce Capability Building: Hyundai has delivered approximately 16,000 person-days of EV service training. The company invested around Rs. 2 crore in upgrading training centers for high-voltage safety and battery diagnostics.
  • Future Product Pipeline: The current portfolio featuring the IONIQ 5 and CRETA Electric will soon expand with an upcoming localized, mass-market SUV EV.

Mr. Tarun Garg, MD and CEO, HMIL commented:

“Electric mobility represents an important pillar of India’s journey towards sustainable and future-ready transportation. At Hyundai Motor India Limited, our focus is not limited to introducing advanced electric vehicles. We are working to create a complete ecosystem that gives customers confidence at every stage, from product discovery and purchase to charging, maintenance and long-term ownership. By expanding our network of EV chargers, EV-ready sales and service touchpoints, investing in specialised infrastructure and systematically training our dealership teams, we aim to make the transition to electric mobility convenient, dependable and rewarding. On World EV Day, we reiterate our commitment to driving meaningful EV adoption while keeping customers at the heart of every initiative.”

Insights & Market Outlook

Hyundai’s ecosystem strategy addresses core EV adoption barriers by pairing high-speed charger installation with dealer skill development. While luxury offerings like the IONIQ 5 build brand prestige, scaling public chargers directly supports higher-volume models like the CRETA Electric. The upcoming localized EV platform will be vital for Hyundai to gain significant market share against established mass-market electric competitors.

In our view, HMIL’s aggressive push into DC fast chargers and workforce training creates a solid foundation. However, long-term success against segment leaders will hinge on the pricing and range efficiency of its upcoming localized EV platform.
