Honda Cars India has officially confirmed the debut of its highly anticipated 0 Alpha electric SUV in India on December 2. It was first showcased as a concept vehicle at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. The SUV will mark Honda’s inaugural step into India's rapidly growing battery-electric passenger vehicle market.
The model is extensively tested across Indian weather, extreme terrains and varied public charging infrastructure. Giving a push to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the model will be assembled locally at Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The decision underlines the carmaker's strategy to keep costs competitive while using India as a production base for global exports.
Design and Interior Highlights
Spied test mules undergoing pan India durability evaluations show that the production ready 0 Alpha retains the clean, boxy aesthetic seen on the original concept vehicle.
- Exterior Profiling: Features an upright stance, tall glasshouse, square wheel arches, aero-styled wheels and a flat tailgate topped with a roof integrated spoiler.
- Cabin Layout: Incorporates a horizontal dashboard featuring a large central touchscreen infotainment display, a digital driver’s instrument cluster and a multifunction steering wheel.
- Terrain & Heat Testing: Evaluated under severe monsoon conditions, high ambient temperatures, urban busy traffic and long distance highway runs across India.
Expected Specifications & Market Positioning
The exact battery capacity, power figures and certified driving range are yet to be revealed by Honda. Although reports suggest that the model is targeted to slot directly into the midsize EV segment.

Car Junction's Insights
We anticipate that the introduction of the 0 Alpha will provide a much-needed sales catalyst for Honda Cars India. This will expand its portfolio beyond internal combustion and hybrid models like the Elevate and City. Honda’s emphasis on heavy local manufacturing at Tapukara will allow the brand to price the EV competitively against established local and international players.
Looking ahead, the success of the 0 Alpha will heavily rely on competitive range figures and aggressive aggressive localization to undercut rivals. Main rivals in this fast growing segment will include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV and Mahindra BE 6.
