Force Motors Hits 2 Lakh Mercedes Engine Production Milestone in India

Force Motors has reached a significant production milestone by manufacturing its 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine in India. The landmark unit, a 6-cylinder M256 petrol engine, has been fitted into the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450. The achievement highlights the long-running Indo-German collaboration between Force Motors and Mercedes-Benz, which began in 1997.

Chakan Plant Strengthens Indo-German Automotive Partnership

The Chakan facility was specially developed by Force Motors to meet Mercedes-Benz’s global engineering and quality standards. Over the years, the plant has become a key production base for engines and other powertrain components, including axles, for Mercedes-Benz vehicles assembled in India.

This milestone reflects India’s growing importance as a global manufacturing hub for advanced automotive technologies. The local production of high-performance engines like the M256 also supports Mercedes-Benz’s strategy of increasing localisation in the Indian luxury car market while maintaining global quality benchmarks.
