Tata Motors has brought a mid-cycle facelift update to its flagship model - Punch EV, on 20th February 2026. The facelift version contains a more streamlined variant lineup, featuring the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model. The new Tata Punch EV Facelift is available in 5 new trims - Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered Plus S.

Variant-Wise Feature Distribution
While the model is equipped with essential safety features in all trims, there are some notable differences among all. Where the base trims focus on EV functionality, high trims build SUV-like experience.

1. Smart (Base Trim)

The entry-level variant focuses on safety and core EV functionality. It is primarily paired with the 30 kWh battery.
- Safety: Six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-hold assist, and TPMS.
- Performance: Multi-mode regen, City and Sport drive modes.
- Interiors: 4-inch digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable driver seat, and front power windows.
- Exterior: Halogen projector headlamps and 15-inch steel wheels.
2. Smart Plus

This trim adds basic infotainment and connectivity. The 40 kWh version of this trim gains significant mechanical upgrades.
- Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen by Harman with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Convenience: Steering-mounted controls, 4 speakers, and shark fin antenna.
- 40 kWh Exclusive: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto-hold and a jewelled drive selector knob.
3. Adventure

The Adventure trim is designed for users seeking better convenience for longer drives.
- Convenience: Cruise control, push-button start/stop, and Hill Descent Control.
- Utility: Electronically adjustable ORVMs and follow-me-home headlamps.
- Exterior: 16-inch steel wheels with stylized covers.
4. Empowered
This trim marks the transition into a high-tech "digital cockpit" experience.
- Tech: 10.25-inch HD touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation display.
- Safety: 360-degree surround-view camera and blind-spot monitor.
- Comfort: Auto-folding ORVMs, air purifier, and 65W USB-C fast charging.
- Exterior: 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and connected LED tail lamps.
5. Empowered Plus S (Flagship)
The top-tier variant includes all available luxury features and advanced styling.
- Premium Comfort: Front ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, and a wireless smartphone charger.
- Signature Features: Voice-assisted electric sunroof and SOS calling function.
- Lighting: Smart LED headlamps and front LED fog lamps with cornering function.
Technical Specifications

The 2026 Punch EV is built on an advanced ‘acti.ev’ platform. This uses a compact X-in-1 e-drive module, enhancing efficiency. The newly introduced facelift gives the model two upgrade types in battery - 30 kWh and 40 kWh. Specifications related are mentioned below:
- Power: 88 PS by 30 kWh battery model and 129 PS by 40 kWh battery model.
- Peak Torque: 154 Nm
- Charging Speed: 20% to 80% in 26 minutes via a 65kW DC fast charger.
- Drive Customization: Three drive modes (Eco, City, Sport) and 4-level paddle-shift regeneration.
- Off-road Capability: 195mm ground clearance and 450mm water-wading depth.
The Tata Punch EV facelift moves the model more in the premium direction, especially the 40kWh overpowered models. Critical safety requirements are made standard in all trims along with the BaaS model. With this, the entry level price is reduced to Rs. 6.49 lakh, feasible to target the low-end consumer section.
