Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Earns Five-Star Global NCAP Rating
Google News

Following its official unveiling on April 9, Volkswagen India has made another interesting announcement. The facelifted model has secured a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Achieving top honors for both adult and child occupant protection reinforced Taigun among the safest vehicles in its segment.
Structural Integrity and Safety Specifications
The facelifted Taigun continues to utilize the high-strength MQB-A0-IN platform, a foundation shared with the Skoda Kushaq. This architecture is credited with providing the structural stability necessary to withstand high-impact collisions. While the vehicle maintains its mechanically efficient nature, the update focuses on consistent safety performance across all variants.
The safety suite for the updated model includes:
- Standard Fitments: Six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and ABS with EBD are provided across the entire range.
- Family Safety: The SUV is equipped with ISOFIX child seat mounts and multi-collision braking systems.
- Driver Assistance: Features such as hill-hold control assist in varied driving conditions.
- Technology Gaps: Despite the five-star rating, the Taigun still lacks Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera. These features are increasingly common among its direct competitors.
The Taigun’s successful crash test performance underscores Volkswagen’s commitment to safety-first engineering in the Indian market. While it maintains structural durability, the absence of tech like ADAS may be a point of contention for tech-focused buyers. With Bharat NCAP now operational, the industry's attention shifts to how this facelifted model will perform under India's local testing.
