Volkswagen Reveals Tayron R-Line as New 7-Seater SUV in India
Google News

Volkswagen has revealed the India-spec Tayron R-Line, a seven-seater SUV positioned above the Tiguan R-Line. Its price will be announced closer to its India launch, expected in mid-to-late 2026. Industry estimates however suggest it to be priced between Rs 35 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
The model brings the brand back into the three-row SUV segment after the Tiguan Allspace was discontinued. This is also the first of five Volkswagen models planned to be introduced in India.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Launch Date
The given price range makes the model more expensive than the Hyundai Alcazar and MG Gloster. But, it’s still lower than the top trims of the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian. Volkswagen plans to leverage the Tayron’s European build, smooth ride, and safety features to appeal to India’s premium SUV buyers. As of now though, no official announcement has been made regarding the exact launch date or confirmed pricing.
Exterior Design
The Tayron R-Line has a front bumper and overall design specific to the R-Line variant. It comes with 19-inch alloy wheels and the rear has connected taillamps along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo.
Interior and Infotainment
Inside the SUV, there is a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel and silver trims on the dashboard. It also includes an illuminated R logo and ambient lighting with up to 30 colours.
Comfort and Technology
The front seats are powered with 12-way adjustments, memory function, ventilation, and massage features. It comes with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and an augmented reality head-up display. The SUV also has a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, and 3-zone climate control.
Safety Features
The Tayron R-Line has nine airbags, electronic stability control, and hill-start and hill-descent assist. It also comes with a 360-degree camera and Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems. Moreover, it received a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2025 as well.
Engine and Performance
The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine shared with the Tiguan R-Line. It produces 204 Nm of torque and uses a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Tayron R-Line can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 224 kmph.
