Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol Launched in India: Prices & Features Explained
Google News

Tata Motors has expanded its SUV lineup in India with the launch of petrol-powered versions of the Harrier and Safari. The company now offers buyers a choice between diesel and petrol engines in both models. In addition, this launch strengthens Tata’s position in the competitive mid-size and full-size SUV space.
Tata Harrier Petrol: More Choice for Buyers
The Tata Harrier Petrol has been launched at a starting price of Rs 12.89 lakh, going up to Rs 24.68 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the bonnet, it gets Tata’s new 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine, which produces 168bhp and 280Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Perhaps one of the key highlights is fuel efficiency. Tata claims class-leading mileage for the petrol Harrier. In fact, the manual version has also entered the India Book of Records for achieving the highest fuel efficiency by a petrol SUV during a 12-hour drive.
The Harrier Petrol comes with a long list of features aimed at comfort and safety. These include a 14.5-inch Neo QLED touchscreen, Dolby Atmos sound system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and Level 2 ADAS. However, safety remains a strong point, as all variants have earned a five-star Bharat NCAP rating.
Tata Safari Petrol: Flagship SUV Goes Petrol
Alongside the Harrier, Tata has also launched the Safari Petrol, priced between Rs 13.29 lakh and Rs 25.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses the same 1.5-litre Turbo GDi engine with identical power and torque figures. The gearbox options remain the same as well.
In addition, the Safari Petrol offers both six-seat and seven-seat layouts, which makes it more flexible for large families. Its highlights include the new 14.5-inch touchscreen, powered and ventilated front seats, digital IRVM with dashcam, and an enhanced ADAS package. L
Rising Competition in the SUV Segment
Meanwhile, competition is heating up. Mahindra has launched the XUV 7XO, priced from Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 21.97 lakh (ex-showroom). As a result, buyers now have more petrol SUV options than ever before in this price range.
Overall, Tata’s petrol launches add more flexibility and choice. However, buyers will now have to carefully compare features, space, and pricing before making a decision.
