JSW MG Motor India has etched its name into the Guinness World Records after its upcoming flagship SUV, the MG Majestor. The feat includes the successful haul of a massive 406.4-tonne train. Conducted on March 31, 2026, it took place on a railway stretch near Kakapora in the Kashmir Valley, marking the heaviest weight ever pulled by a production-spec Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) on rails.
The challenge involved towing a WAG-9HC locomotive coupled with seven wagons, totalling nearly 170 times the SUV's own weight. Before the attempt, local railway officials and spectators expressed significant doubt.
However, the record was achieved despite all the skepticism. Although initially the tyres skid on the metal rails, the Majestor’s traction systems engaged, allowing the vehicle to pull the 406.4-tonne load over a distance of 300 feet.
The record was achieved using a standard production model featuring:
The Majestor’s record-breaking performance serves as a high-profile demonstration of its structural integrity and torque delivery ahead of its launch. By breaking the previous record of 400 tonnes, the new flagship is now a contender in the premium rugged SUV segment. While the stunt successfully showcased mechanical "brute force," the vehicle's real-world success will soon be tested against rivals like the Toyota Fortuner.
