Kia Seltos Achieves Full 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
Google News

In a significant milestone, the 2026 Seltos has secured a prestigious 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). This result highlights a major safety evolution for the mid-size SUV, which is one of the highest-scoring vehicles in its segment. This surpasses rivals like the Tata Sierra in recent crash test assessments.
Seltos Delivers Top-Tier Protection Scores
The crash tests were conducted on the HTE(O) and GTX diesel-automatic variants, but ratings apply to the entire lineup. The Seltos showcased strong structural integrity, with the bodyshell and footwell rated as stable during the high-impact evaluations.
Key Performance Highlights:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 31.70 out of 32 points.
- Child Occupant Protection (COP): 45.00 out of 49 points.
- Impact Protection: The SUV provided "Good" protection for the head, neck, and chest of both the driver and passenger in frontal impacts. It also received an "OK" rating in the more stringent side pole impact test.
Standard Safety Suite
The Seltos' high score is bolstered by a comprehensive set of safety features mandated across all trims:
- Six airbags (front, side, and curtain)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ABS with EBD
- ISOFIX child seat mounts and three-point seatbelts
- Hill-start Assist and All-wheel Disc Brakes
- Pedestrian Protection and Seat Belt Reminders (SBR)
This 5-star result effectively addresses previous safety concerns. This positions the Seltos as a strong competitor against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris and Skoda Kushaq. By integrating advanced Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) as standard, Kia has successfully aligned the Seltos with the highest local safety benchmarks.
