Hyundai India Registers 9.1% Domestic Growth with 47,837 Units Sold in May 2026

Gurugram | June 01, 2026: Hyundai has released its sales report for May 2026, recording total sales of 61,137 units, including domestic and export shipments. The company had sold 58,701 units in May 2025. This marks a year-on-year growth of 4.1%, showing a steady increase in overall sales compared to the same month last year.
Hyundai Domestic and Export Sales Performance
Hyundai sold 47,837 units in the domestic market during May 2026, compared to 43,861 units in May 2025, registering a 9.1% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, the company exported 13,300 units during the month, down from 14,840 units in the same period last year. As a result, export sales declined by 10.3% compared to May 2025.

Month-on-Month Sales Analysis
In May 2026, Hyundai's total sales stood at 61,137 units, compared to 65,610 units in April 2026, reflecting a month-on-month decline of 6.8%. Domestic sales fell from 51,902 units in April to 47,837 units in May, registering a 7.8% decrease. Export sales also witnessed a slight drop, declining from 13,708 units to 13,300 units during the same period, resulting in a 3% month-on-month decline.

Official Statement on Market Momentum
Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO of HMIL, commented on the results:
“Hyundai Motor India has continued its strong momentum of the year into May as well, achieving domestic sales of 47,837 units with 9.1% YoY growth and total sales of 61,137 units with 4.1% YoY growth. In the first two months (April and May) of FY27, HMIL witnessed domestic sales rise by 13% to 99,739 units, compared to 88,235 units in the same period of FY26.”
Hyundai recorded strong domestic sales growth in May 2026, which helped the company achieve positive year-on-year growth despite lower export volumes. Compared to April 2026, both domestic and export sales declined, leading to a drop in overall monthly sales. Even so, Hyundai's total sales remained higher than the figures reported in May 2025.
