Greater Noida | May 01, 2026: Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has started the new financial year on a positive note, registering a significant 21% growth. This upshoot is for its domestic sales for April 2026. The reason for this strong growth is the strong market demand for the Honda Elevate SUV and the sedans like Honda City and Honda Amaze.
Significant Milestone in Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales
The company dispatched 4,069 units in the domestic market this month, compared to 3,360 units in April 2025. While domestic dispatches saw a sharp double-digit increase, the export segment experienced a decline of 46.35%. Exports this month saw 869 units against 1,151 units in the same month last year. Overall, the combined total sales stood at 4,938 units, representing a marginal year-on-year growth of 1.3%.

Sequential Analysis: Month-on-Month Performance
In terms of sequential performance, Honda Cars India saw a slight cooling of 4.6% in total sales compared to March 2026. The company had dispatched a total of 5,176 units in March 2026 domestically.
This minor month-on-month dip is consistent with the industry-wide trend of volume stabilization following the fiscal year-end peak in March. Despite the overall total decline, the domestic demand remained relatively resilient as the brand transitions into the second month of FY2027.
Official Statement on Market Momentum
Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., expressed satisfaction with the start of the fiscal year:
"The new fiscal year has begun on a positive note for us, with good sales momentum for Amaze, City and Elevate. HCIL has recorded a 21% growth in domestic sales for April 2026. We remain confident of sustaining this growth trajectory in the coming months."
Although export challenges persist, the brand maintains a solid domestic footing. The continued success of the Elevate suggests a healthy outlook as the company expands its premium presence in India.
