Google News

Volkswagen India has officially pulled the wraps off the 2026 Taigun facelift today, April 9. This mid-life update focuses on a more sophisticated "Global VW" design language and a significant mechanical upgrade. While the official price announcement is expected later this month, the production is already underway at its Pune plant. The deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026.
Tiguan-Inspired Design and 9 Color Options
The 2026 Taigun features a refreshed front fascia with a slimmer piano-black grille and a new connected LED light band. In a segment-first for the brand, both the front and rear Volkswagen logos are now illuminated. The rear also features "Infinity" LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators and a new "Welcome and Goodbye" light animation.
The SUV will be available in 9 exterior colors, including two brand-new shades:
- New: Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.
- Existing: White Cherry Red, Candy White, Deep Black Pearl, Lava Blue, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, and Carbon Steel Matte.

Performance Upgrades and Premium Interiors
The biggest mechanical news is the replacement of the old 6-speed automatic with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The same is offered for the 1.0L TSI engine (114 hp / 178 Nm). This change aims to provide smoother shifts and better highway efficiency. The 1.5L TSI (148 hp / 250 Nm) continues to be paired with the 7-speed DSG.
Inside, the cabin is elevated by six distinct premium upholstery choices tailored to different variants:
- Soul Black: Classic sporty look.
- Anthracite with CNG Stitching: Rugged and textured.
- Soul Black with London Grey Stitching: Sophisticated dual-tone.
- Storm Grey with Black Piping: Elegant and airy.
- Storm Grey with Red Piping/Stitching: Reserved for the GT trims.
- Soul Black with Red Piping/Stitching: The flagship "Performance" interior.
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is a comprehensive evolution that aligns the SUV with VW’s global R-Line aesthetics. By adding a more efficient 8-speed gearbox and a heavily digitized cabin, Volkswagen is doubling down on the "premium enthusiast" segment. While we await the official price list, pre-bookings are now being accepted across all dealerships. The VW India website currently accepts a token amount of ₹25,000.
